Why you got a Checkr email
The sequence is always the same: an employer you applied to (or a gig platform you signed up for) ordered a report, and US law — the FCRA — requires your written consent before it runs. The email is Checkr collecting that consent and your identifying details. No employer order, no email: Checkr doesn’t cold-scan people.
What Checkr checks

Found an error? The dispute process
- Open your report in the Checkr candidate portal and hit “Dispute” on the specific item (or email [email protected]). Say what’s wrong and attach anything that proves it — court disposition, ID showing a different middle name.
- Checkr must reinvestigate and respond within 30 days under the FCRA; most disputes resolve faster. While the dispute runs, the employer sees the report is contested — and an employer acting on disputed data without waiting is taking legal risk, which most won’t.
